01 The Charge
With effect from 20 July 2026, Rahul Himalian holds the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of IRCTC. He did not vacate his existing board portfolio to do so: he continues as Director (Tourism & Marketing), the whole-time functional directorship he has held since 16 February 2024.
The appointment followed the resignation of Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain from the post of Chairman & Managing Director. As reported, the charge carries responsibility for the corporation’s overall operations and strategic direction.

03 Administration in Practice
A detailed inspection covering the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Tejas Express, the Jan Aahar and Food Plaza outlets at Mumbai Central, and the base kitchens at Kurla and Chembur — the facilities that cook and dispatch meals for trains passing through the city.
The onboard leg of the inspection was used to speak with passengers about food and service, with the majority reported to have responded positively.
